Multiple local fire departments responded to a Tuesday evening fire.

According to the Tiverton Fire Department, at approximately 6:30 p.m., the Tiverton Fire Department responded to a reported fire at 32 Main Road.

The fire department was informed that a tenant had used a fire extinguisher in an effort to control the fire prior to arrival.

Crews conducted a thorough check of the upper floors to ensure there was no fire extension due to the age and construction of this building.

As a precaution, mutual aid was called to the scene from Fall River while others covered the stations.

One person was evaluated by EMS on scene for minor injuries.

TFD stated that this incident highlights the importance of having working fire extinguishers and knowing how to use them.

“Great job to the tenant for their quick action!”
