Massachusetts State Police have released details on a local highway crash that caused multiple injuries.

According to Tim McGuirk of Massachusetts State Police, at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Friday, three vehicles, including a State Police cruiser, became involved in a crash on the Braga Bridge (eastbound) in Somerset.

Preliminary information indicates that a vehicle traveling in the left lane moved to the middle lane to allow the State Police cruiser engaged in an emergency response to pass. When the vehicle changed lanes, it struck another vehicle, spun out, and made contact with the cruiser.

The cruiser involved in the crash was operated by a senior Trooper serving as a Field Training Officer for a new Trooper who was a passenger.

Both Troopers and one of the civilian operators sustained non-life-threatening injuries. All three were transported to a local hospital via ambulance.

Shortly after 6:00 p.m., the road reopened to normal traffic.

The crash remains under investigation by the State Police.
