3 totally different restaurants are headed to Fall River.

Naz’s Halal Food is coming to unit 2 at 167 Broadway on the side of Papa Johns.

According to their website, Naz’s Halal Food was founded by cousins Naz and Kareem who were public school teachers at the same New York City school.

In 2009, NHF opened a food truck in Queens, NY as a “side business,” inspired by their family’s life-long involvement in restaurant ownership.

NHF opened its first brick and mortar restaurant in January 2018.

Today, the restaurant chain has over 40 locations and is on track to reach 60 by the end of 2025.

Naz’s Halal Food says they believe in treating customers, employees and licensees like family.

Using family recipes, they aim to serve authentic, high-quality halal meals. Good food fast.

NHF offers a quick-service menu blending Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and South Asian flavors. Key offerings include:

  • Rice Platters: Chicken, lamb, or combo (chicken and lamb) over seasoned basmati rice, topped with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, and signature sauces (white, red, or green). Often paired with pita bread.
  • Gyros and Wraps: Chicken or lamb gyro in pita with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and sauce. Wraps include similar fillings in a flour tortilla.
  • Salads: Fresh salads with grilled chicken or lamb, mixed greens, and customizable toppings.
  • Falafel: Crispy falafel balls served in platters, wraps, or as sides, with tahini or other sauces.
  • Sides: Fries, hummus, baba ghanoush, and mozzarella sticks.
  • Desserts: Baklava and other sweets.
  • Drinks: Soft drinks, iced tea, and sometimes mango lassi.

Portions are described as generous and prices affordable (e.g., platters typically $8-$12). Customization is a hallmark, with options to adjust spice levels or add extras like falafel or cheese.

Hussan Ali will be in front of the Licensing Board next week for a Common Victualler license for Naz’s Halal Food.

Amgad Mikhail is also expected to go in front of the Licensing Board next week for a Common Victualler license for Pharaoh’s Pizza LLC at 752 Brayton Avenue (Sun China Restaurant). No word on an exact menu, however, you can at least be expecting pizza.

Finally, Adilson Texeira will be looking for an entertainment license next week for Sosabi Restaurant Bar & Lounge on 915 County Street, the former O’ Gil’s Portuguese Restaurant.

In February, Squeegee2 Inc., represented by Kristen Teves, went in front of the Licensing Board and was granted a transfer of the Common Victualler license from O’ Gil’s as the owners were retiring.

Adilson Texeira went in front of the Licensing Board last month to become the new officer of Squeegee2 Inc., replacing Teves.

Texeira and his counsel stated that the format will be the same as O’ Gil’s, however, interior renovations are currently taking place.

There will be two chefs in the kitchen. One making Spanish and Cape Verdean food and another doing Portuguese and American cuisine.

Most of the staff from O’ Gil’s, including cooks, waiters and bar staff, will be returning.

Texeira, who currently lives in Boston, has over a decade of restaurant experience and has run a restaurant with his mother.

Teves previously stated that part of the sale of the property included recipes from O’ Gils.

The three new spots are expected to open soon, however, a more exact timetable should be known in the coming days.
