Three in serious condition after rollover crash on Route 24 in Portsmouth

Multiple people were injured in a local highway crash on Saturday night.

According to the Portsmouth Firefighter Union, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Engine 1, Rescue 1, Rescue 2, Car 3, and Med 1, along with PPD, responded to Route 24 North in the area of Exit 2 for a reported motor vehicle rollover.

Upon arrival, crews located a single vehicle that had rolled over off the roadway.

Two occupants were found to be entrapped and required extrication using hydraulic rescue tools.

A total of three patients were transported: one to Newport Hospital, one to Rhode Island Hospital, and one to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in serious condition.

The union thanked all mutual aid departments for their assistance and support during the incident.
