Three Fall River high school students recognized for excellence both in and out of the classroom

Three Fall River high school students have been recognized for their excellence.

According to Fall River Public Schools, Monday night at the School Committee meeting, three remarkable B.M.C. Durfee High School Class of 2025 soon-to-be graduates received the Superintendent’s Academic Excellence Award for their dedication, intellect, and achievements during their high school careers. The award highlights their pursuit of excellence both in and out of the classroom.

Honored last night were:

Katerina Rumsey

-Ranked #1 in the senior class, Katerina has earned A+ grades in every class, including 8 AP courses, scoring 5s on nearly all of them.

-A three-sport athlete, advanced pianist, and dedicated volunteer, she exemplifies a balance of academics, athletics, and community service.

-Katerina has applied early decision to Georgetown University, where she hopes to continue to achieve greatness in all her endeavors.

Kasey Juarez

-Ranked #8 in the senior class, Kasey has taken 12 AP courses and excels in science, particularly chemistry, with plans to pursue biochemistry at Columbia University.

-As a first-generation college-bound student, she inspires us with her resilience, humor, and kindness.

-A recipient of the National Recognition Award, Kasey embodies academic excellence and leadership.

Jacob Anderson

-Ranked #17 in the senior class with a 4.7 GPA, Jacob excels in math and engineering, demonstrating exceptional problem-solving skills and leadership.

-A key member of the Honors Engineering CTE program and active in multiple clubs, Jacob’s passion for learning and collaboration inspires all who know him.

-With aspirations in Computer Engineering, Jacob is ready to tackle the challenges of higher education.
