RAYNHAM — Chief David LaPlante reports that the Raynham Police Department investigated a series of rumors surrounding an alleged threat made toward Raynham Middle School this weekend.

The Raynham Police Department has determined that there is no credible threat to middle school and that the rumors were unsubstantiated.

Over the weekend, Bridgewater-Raynham school officials received an email from a concerned parent over a possible threat to Raynham Middle School. Raynham Police Detective Patrick Leahy and SRO Amanda Wong immediately investigated the matter, speaking with multiple students and parents.

The investigation concluded that there were no credible threats to Raynham Middle School or any students. The threat rumors originated from a student Snapchat group.

At this time, no charges or citations have been filed, and all subsequent matters will be handled by the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District.

Out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased police presence at Bridgewater-Raynham schools this week.
