Third person jumps off an area bridge in last month and a half
(Newport) – In a troubling trend, a third person has jumped off a local bridge since late March.
According to Major Laurie Ludovici of Rhode Island State Police, it is confirmed that a male jumped from the Newport/Claiborne Pell Bridge at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Ludovici stated that the body was not, and has not yet, been recovered as of 9:30 a.m. this morning.
No other details were released.
On April 2nd, a body was recovered after a jump from the Newport/Claiborne Pell Bridge.
