Third lawsuit filed in wake of Gabriel House fire in Fall River that killed 10

FALL RIVER, MA – Keches Law Group is representing several families of the victims who were killed or injured in the devastating fire at Gabriel House Assisted Living in Fall River on the evening of July 13, 2025.

“We have heard heartbreaking stories from our clients. Stories of loved ones trapped in their rooms, unable to escape” said Keches Law attorney Joseph Ferreira, who has deep roots in the Fall River community.  “I grew up here, and still live nearby. These families, and our community, need answers and accountability. In addition, we are working with the legislative branches and other government agencies to ensure regulations get put in place to avoid this from ever happening again.”

Keches Law Group has launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire, including potential negligence by the facility’s management, emergency preparedness failures, and prior safety violations. The firm is also examining the adequacy of staffing, fire alarm and suppression systems, and the facility’s response to the crisis.

One of those being represented by the law firm is Alvaro Vieira who is suing Gabriel House, its owner, Dennis Etzkorn, and Fire Systems Inc for injuries he sustained and property damage due to negligence.

The suit alleges that “as a result of the Defendants’ actions and failures to act with reasonable care, Plaintiff was forced to endure ongoing and permanent pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of the capacity for the enjoyment of life, and the expense of hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment, property damage and loss, costs associated with relocation.”
