A scene that sounds out of a page of On Patrol Live resulted in a local arrest.

According to police, on Wednesday, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Kingston Police Dispatch received a 911 call from a resident indicating that multiple thieves were in her back yard, actively stealing her jet ski and trailer. The victim later provided video surveillance of the event.

Units responded immediately and located the suspect vehicle, a dark pick-up truck, as it fled the area with the stolen jet ski and trailer attached. The suspect pick-up truck did not have proper registration plates and was later found to have been reported stolen out of Rhode Island. Officers attempted to stop the suspect. A pursuit ensued.

The pursuit traveled from Main St Kingston to Route 3 South, to Route 6 West, to Route 25 West, to I-195 West, to Downtown New Bedford. A significant amount of assistance was received from Troopers assigned to several Massachusetts State Police Troop D Barracks throughout the route. State Police utilized “stop sticks” to deflate the suspect vehicle tires. The suspect vehicle continued on rims, in excess of 90 mph. A Kingston Police cruiser was damaged due to flying debris which smashed the cruiser’s windshield, spraying the officer with shattered glass from the windshield. He continued his relentless pursuit of the felons. During the pursuit, the stolen jet ski and trailer fell off the truck in Bourne. Due to the brazen nature of the crime, and the limited vehicular traffic in the middle of the night, the pursuit continued for approximately 47 miles.

The suspect vehicle crashed in New Bedford and a small fire ignited in the vehicle. Three suspects fled the vehicle. One suspect jumped the guard rail and ran across the opposing lanes of travel. A Kingston Police Officer pursued on foot and got the suspect to the ground in the breakdown lane of I-195. Troopers closed in from behind and assisted in handcuffing the suspect. Other suspects are believed to have jumped off an overpass on I-195. It is suspected that these individuals may be involved in other similar larcenies in the area.

Unfortunately for the remaining suspects, plenty of physical and digital evidence was recovered during the incident and the investigation into their whereabouts remains on-going.

The captured suspect is identified as Livan Sarit, 21, of Providence Rhode Island. After the nearly 45-minute ride back to be booked at Kingston PD, he was later brought before a judge.
