The color of a State Lottery scratch ticket created big plans and a big win for Massachusetts woman
The color of a scratch ticket turned into big money and new plans for a Massachusetts woman.
According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Melanie Thompson is the first $1 million prize winner in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$10,000,000 Cash Blast” $20 instant ticket game.
Thompson, who is from Middleborough, chose to play this ticket because she liked its shiny purple color, opted to receive her prize in the form of a one-time payment of $650,000 (before taxes). She said that she plans to use her winnings to buy a house and a dog.
She purchased her winning ticket at 7-Eleven, 190 New Boston Rd. in Fall River. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale of this ticket.

No. She won $1 million and took the penalty to get the lump sum. I think you confused how much money is in the game with how much money she won.
