Teenager in critical condition after near drowning in backyard pool in Dedham
Police are investigating after a teen nearly drowned early this morning.
According to Dedham Police, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Dedham Emergency 911 Center received multiple 911 calls reporting an unresponsive male related to a possible drowning incident. The incident took place in a backyard on Netta Road which includes an in-ground pool.
Upon arrival, officers observed bystanders performing CPR on the victim. The victim has been identified as a 17-year-old male from Dedham.
First Responders took over care and rendered aid to the victim. The victim was subsequently transported to a Boston hospital by Fallon Ambulance.
The victim’s condition is believed to be critical at this time.
Responding officers learned a graduation party was taking place at the location of this incident. An investigation into the circumstances leading to the victim becoming submerged in the water is ongoing.
The Dedham Public Schools have been consulted with to ensure that appropriate support is made available to members of the school community.
