Teen Safety Summit set for Wednesday
The third annual county-wide Teen Safety Summit will be held Wednesday, April 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Venus de Milo in Swansea.
This is a free conference, which is specifically geared towards adolescents, law enforcement, court personnel, youth-based organizations, social service and healthcare providers, lawyers, parents and school officials.
The half-day conference will include numerous interactive workshop sessions on issues relative to substance abuse, discrimination, cyber safety, dating relationships and mental health.
Speakers and panelists for this year’s summit include Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III and Chris West, of CWestSpeak Motivational Speaking and Training Services. Mr. West’s panel discussion will feature a wide variety of people in our communities who have turned life’s challenges into opportunities for success.
The conference is being sponsored by the District Attorney’s Substance Use Task Force, whose members include police from Fairhaven, Taunton, Dartmouth, Mansfield, and Norton. Taunton YMCA/Mass in Motion, the Stanley Street Treatment and Resources, New Bedford Health Department, Mansfield and Norton public schools, Dartmouth Youth Commission, Cory’s Cause Foundation, the Fairhaven Health Department and the Tobacco Control Commission.
