Fall River Police arrested a local teen on a list of charges after a pursuit.

According to police, on Tuesday, CAST detectives received information that 19-year-old Januel Medina was operating a vehicle in the area of Bay Street and was in possession of a firearm. Januel was part of an active investigation where it was already determined that he does not possess a license to carry a firearm.

At approximately 3:00 p.m., detectives located Januel operating a vehicle on Bradford Avenue, attempting to back into a parking spot at Kennedy Park. When attempting to conduct a motor vehicle stop, Januel fled the scene at a high rate of speed, nearly causing multiple vehicle accidents.

After fleeing from police, Januel then decided to head to his residence on Sachem Street. CAST detectives arrived at the home and were joined by MCD Detectives, Patrol Officers and a few officers working a detail in the area. Detectives quickly located Januel in the rear yard of his residence which led to a very short jaunt through some back yards and over fences. The chase quickly ended and he was taken into custody without incident.

A search warrant for the residence and property was petitioned and granted. A search was conducted and a Glock 19 9mm handgun with a defaced serial number and a loaded 31-round extended magazine. Also located in the residence was a loaded 17-round magazine.
