Teacher with long-term career in Fall River Public School system passes away

A local woman who spent decades molding young minds at multiple institutions has died.

75-year-old Kathleen Driscoll of Middletown, R.I., formerly of Westport and Fall River, passed away on Thursday in Newport Hospital. She was the beloved wife of attorney Wilfred C. Driscoll, Jr., to whom she had been married for 47 years.

According to an obituary, Driscoll “found her life’s work in teaching, starting at the Freetown Lakeville school system before embarking on a long-term career in the Fall River Public School system. She taught for many years at Talbot and Morton middle schools before becoming the English curriculum director of Fall River Public Schools.”

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River, followed by her burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Fall River. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River. Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Raising Harts, 1130 Washington St., Suite 2, Hanover, MA 02339.
