Taunton teen dies just hours before 15th birthday after collision with vehicle

Chief Edward Walsh reports that the Taunton Police Department responded Tuesday to a serious motor vehicle crash.

At approximately 3:00 p.m., the Taunton Police and Fire Departments were called to the intersection of Somerset Avenue (Route 138) and Silverwood Drive for a report of a motor vehicle collision.

Police arrived to find a two-vehicle crash involving a Toyota Corolla and a Kayo mini-motorcycle.

The driver of the car, a 17-year-old Taunton female, was not injured. The driver of the mini-motorcycle, a 14-year-old Taunton male, suffered serious injuries. He was taken to a local hospital.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser created by his mother, Aiden Andrews died from his injuries just hours before his 15th birthday.

Aiden was being remembered as an amazing soul, tough & strong, but kind & caring, smart & brave.

The crash remains under investigation by Taunton Police, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
