Taunton Police investigating after vehicle occupied by 20-year-old, 22-year-old struck by gunfire

TAUNTON — Chief Edward Walsh reports that the Taunton Police Department responded to a report of a shooting on Wednesday.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., officers responded to 280 Winthrop St. after a reported shooting. Upon arrival, police discovered a vehicle occupied by a 20-year-old male and 22-year-old female; both are Taunton residents.

According to a preliminary investigation, the vehicle in question had shots fired at it, but neither person was struck.

The suspects fled prior to the arrival of responding officers, and the incident remains under investigation by the Taunton Police Department. Police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
