Taunton Police Department investigating after driver shot at by another driver

TAUNTON — Chief Edward Walsh reports that the Taunton Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Friday morning.

At just after 8:15 a.m., Taunton received a report of someone who had been shot at while driving in their vehicle.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a driver was shot at by the driver of another vehicle in the area of Fifth Street and West Water Street.

During the investigation, officers later observed two bullet holes in the vehicle.

Through a subsequent investigation, police identified a suspect, who has since been taken into custody on other charges in another jurisdiction, and is expected to face charges in connection with the Taunton incident.

The suspect was not named.

The investigation, including the cause of the incident, remains active and ongoing.
