Taunton Police and Fire: One dead in early morning crash
TAUNTON — Police Chief Edward J. Walsh and Fire Chief Timothy J. Bradshaw report that the Taunton Police and Fire Departments responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash early this morning.
At approximately 3:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, the Taunton Police and Fire Departments responded to the area of 740 Burt St. for a reported motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, first responders found a single vehicle that had struck a tree and had caught on fire.
A preliminary investigation showed that the driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle. They were pronounced deceased at the scene, and their identity has not been released.
Taunton Police Detectives and the Taunton Fire Department were assisted on scene by the Taunton Police Accident Reconstruction Team and members of the Massachusetts State Police Detectives Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s office.
