Taunton man killed, another injured, in fatal motor vehicle crash
A Taunton man was killed in a serious crash yesterday.
At 9:05 p.m., the Taunton Police Department responded to the area of Tremont Street and Shores Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, an initial on scene investigation revealed that a Chevy Silverado was traveling south on Tremont Street, when it collided with a Honda Civic which was traveling north on Tremont Street.
A preliminary investigation has revealed that the operator of the Silverado, a 29 year-old Taunton woman, was turning left into a Trucchi’s Supermarket parking lot when her vehicle was struck by the Honda Civic.
The operator of the Civic has been identified as Christopher Silva, 32, of Taunton. Silva was rushed to Morton Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The female driver of the Silverado sustained minor injuries in the crash.
No criminal charges have been filed in this incident, according to Miliote. The investigation, along with an accident reconstruction effort, is ongoing.
