Taunton Fire Department quickly knocks down fatal fire
TAUNTON — Chief Steven Lavigne reports that the Taunton Fire Department responded Thursday to a fatal fire on North Walker Street.
At just after 3:30 p.m., the Taunton Fire Department was called to 19 North Walker St. for a report of a structure fire.
Companies arrived to find smoke showing from a home and made a quick, aggressive interior attack with a hose line.
While battling the fire, companies located an adult occupant of the home inside. The occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fire was knocked down within about 10 minutes.
Taunton Engines 5, 1, 3 and 4, Ladder 2, and Car 2 battled the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Taunton Police and Fire Departments, State Police assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, and the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
