Target will soon be holding their car seat trade-in event.

During the trade-in event Target will accept and recycle all types of car seats, including infant seats, convertible seats, car seat bases, harness or booster car seats and car seats that are expired or damaged. Materials from the old car seats will be recycled by Target’s partner, Waste Management.

The process works as follows:

Step 1: Bring an old car seat or base to a nearby Target and drop it in the designated box inside the store.

Step 2: Open your Target App to scan the code on the box. Talk to a Team Member in Guest Services if you need help.

Step 3: Open your Wallet in the Target App and view “Extra offers” to find your coupon + more contactless savings.

Step 4: Click the green checkmark next to the offer and place your order online, or scan your barcode at the register.

Target states that 14.4 million pounds of car seats have been recycled so far through the program which began in 2016.

Guests who trade in their old car seats will receive a 20% off coupon toward a new car seat, car seat base, travel system, stroller or select baby home gear. Select baby home gear includes playards, high chairs, swings, rockers and bouncers.

Coupons can be applied to both in-store and online purchases and are eligible through October 3, 2020.

You can recycle a car seat from September 13th to September 26th. In return, you will receive a coupon for 20% off one new seat, stroller or select baby gear item.

Swansea, North Dartmouth, Seekonk, Taunton, Wareham, North Attleborough Warwick and Easton are among the area stores participating.
