Swansea Police, Fire and Ambulance respond to Route 6 multi-vehicle crash that seriously injured driver
SWANSEA — Police Chief Mark Foley and Fire Chief Eric Hajder report that the Swansea Police and Fire Departments responded Friday to a collision between a pickup truck and a tractor trailer on GAR Highway.
At just before 5:00 p.m., Swansea Police, Fire and Ambulance were called to the area of 1941 GAR Highway (Route 6) for a report of a crash involving a pickup truck and a tractor trailer.
A preliminary investigation determined that a tractor trailer hauling pool water was attempting to make a left turn onto GAR Highway when it was struck by a pickup truck. The tractor trailer leaked a significant amount of water as a result of the collision.
The tractor trailer driver was not hurt, but the driver of the pickup truck suffered injuries that are believed to be serious. The pickup truck driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment by Swansea Ambulance.
The road was closed for about an hour.
The crash remains under investigation by the Swansea Police Department.
