Swansea man sentenced after pleading guilty to Rape of a Child, Obscene Matter to a Minor

A Swansea man has been sentenced in Fall River Superior Court after pleading guilty to child rape.

According to court records, 26-year-old Evan Edward Couto pled guilty Thursday to Rape of a Child and Obscene Matter to a Minor.

Couto was sentenced to not less than and not more than 6 years in prison with credit of 135 days served.

A police report stated that the victim was a 12-year-old female friend, and the incident took place in July of 2023.

Couto must have no contact with the victim and register as a sex offender.
