Swansea man arrested after rash of house break-ins
A Swansea man has been arrested after several house break-ins.
According to Lieutenant Marc Haslam, since August 7, 2020, the Swansea Police Department has been investigating a rash of daytime house breaks that have occurred in the Ocean Grove area of town. In total five housebreaks have taken place.
On August 24, 2020, witnesses observed a suspect attempt to break into a house on Metacomet Avenue. The witnesses then proceeded to contact police and followed the suspect to Gardner’s Neck Road where he gained access to a home at that location, according to Haslam.
Responding officers found the suspect, Dylan Hodgate, 33, of Cliff Avenue, Swansea, hiding in the basement and took him into custody without incident.
Hodgate is being charged with Breaking & Entering Daytime for Felony and Attempted Breaking & Entering.
Hodgate also had 3 active warrants for his arrest.
The Swansea Police Detective Division is looking at similarities to the prior house breaks and may bring further charges against Hodgate should they be warranted.

Glad they caught the creep, some day he will l break into the wrong house and find himself looking down the barrel of a 12 gage.
