The Swansea Fire Department responded to a major fire early this morning.
Shortly after 1:00 a.m., Swansea Firefighters we’re alerted to a well involved structure fire on Steven’s Road.
Crews arrived to find a large barn full involved.
E1 firefighters stretched a 2 1/2” hand line to the rear of the building through an adjacent yard to hit the fire and protect an occupied home.
Additional smaller hand lines were stretched to knock down and extinguish the fire.
Swansea PD assisted with traffic control shutting down Main Street and Stevens Road from Gardners Neck Road to Base Lodge.
Swansea Ambulance and EMA members responded to assist.
