Sutter issues statement on mayoral run: “I do have a plan that will help all the people of Fall River”
Fall River, MA – Sam Sutter, former Mayor of Fall River and former Bristol County District Attorney formally announced that he will be on the ballot for Mayor of Fall River this year. The primary election will be held on September 19, 2023, and the General Election will be held on November 7, 2023.
Sam Sutter: “I cannot overstate how happy I am today, because I am officially on the ballot once again for the job that I truly loved. I loved being Mayor of Fall River and I am running now because Paul Coogan simply isn’t doing the job for all the people of Fall River. Unfortunately for them, Paul Coogan seems to be running the office for a select few. While he’s doing that, people’s taxes keep on rising, violent crime and property crime keep on rising, schools aren’t improving, rents are skyrocketing, but more of Paul Coogan’s friends and family keep getting added to the city payroll. All of this has got to change. Fall River is poised right now at a turning point. Our waterfront is about to be further developed; we have the train to Boston ready to start, and improvements along Route 79 are taking place. But Paul Coogan has no plan to turn this enormous potential into fundamental change that helps all of the people in Fall River. I do have a plan that will help all the people of Fall River. Just look at what I did in the one year that I had. I made sure that Amazon came to Fall River, that Market Basket came to Fall River, that the old Harbor Mall was re-developed into the bustling center of business activity that it is now, that local businesses like Matouk, Blount Fine Foods, New England Ropes, and Millstone Medical all expanded in 2015, leading to hundreds of new jobs for the people of Fall River. I did all of that in one year. Imagine what I could do for the people of Fall River with a full term. I’m excited about this campaign, and debating all the issues with Mike Vandal and Paul Coogan.”
Sutter will be formally announcing his campaign and his reasons for running on Monday, July 10, at 2:00 p.m. in front of the Regent Movie Theatre at the South Coast Mall.

What about the $10 a month per apartment unit trash fee you implemented while you talked about budget deficits. Meanwhile Fall Rivers budget has risen over $150 million to nearly $400 million dollars a year since that quasi revenue crisis that you screamed about from the 6th floor of City Hall? Something smells fishy here, I imagined you and Coogan too be friends!
