Suspicious package reported at SouthCoast Marketplace
On Thursday March 22 at approximately 2:00 p.m., The Fall River Police Department received a report of a suspicious package that was left in the parking lot of Market Basket located within the SouthCoast Marketplace in Fall River, MA. Fall River Police responded and an initial perimeter was secured.
Detective Jeffrey Autote and his partner K-9 Roxy also responded along with members from the Fall River Police Department Special Operations Division. After a preliminary investigation, K-9 Roxy who is trained in the detection of explosives was deployed. K-9 Roxy did not detect the presence of an explosive when searching the area and the suspicious package. Officers then inspected the package and it was determined that there was no threat within the box.
Businesses within the SouthCoast Marketplace and the surrounding neighborhood are advised that there is no further safety concern.
This incident remains under further investigation.
