A man was injured during a pursuit with Fall River Police late Saturday night.

According to Lieutenant Matthew Mendes, a short time ago, officers from the Patrol Bureau responded to reports of gunshots in the area of the Sunset Hill Housing Development.

Upon their arrival, a suspect fled on foot. During the ensuing pursuit, the suspect inadvertently shot himself in the leg.  As a result, the suspect was transported to an area trauma center with reported non-life-threatening injuries.

Mendes confirmed that no members of the department discharged their firearms during the incident.

This is a developing story.
