Suspect in Fall River breaking/entering arrested again for new robbery at same business one month later
Fall River residents are facing charges after two recent incidents at a city business.
According to police, on January 1, 2026, officers responded to a reported breaking and entering at Jay’s Wine and Spirits on President Avenue. The investigation revealed forced entry attempts at the rear loading bay and fire exit doors, with visible tool marks and footprints observed in the snow. Surveillance footage showed two juvenile male suspects entering the business through a rear door, stealing multiple bottles of alcohol and several packs of electronic cigarettes, and exiting the premises within minutes.
This establishment had previously been the target of a breaking and entering on Thanksgiving night, during which more than $4,000 in merchandise was stolen. In that prior incident, detectives were able to identify the involved juveniles through surveillance footage and trace them back to their residence at the Fordney Street Housing Development. As a result of that investigation, two juvenile males, ages 16 and 17 at the time, were charged.
Police stated that given the similarities between the two incidents, including the location, point of entry, type of merchandise stolen, and suspect descriptions, the prior case served as a logical starting point for the follow-up investigation. A comprehensive review of surveillance footage from multiple surrounding locations established a detailed timeline which linked the same 16-year-old juvenile previously charged in the Thanksgiving incident to the January 1st offense. The second suspect in the January incident was a different juvenile male, age 15. Video evidence showed both juveniles leaving their respective residences shortly before the break, going around the neighborhood, breaking in Jay’s and returning shortly afterward to their residences.
During the execution of simultaneous search warrants, investigators seized clothing consistent with that worn by the suspects during the offense, as well as an empty bottle consistent with the stolen merchandise.
Based on the totality of the evidence, arrest warrants were sought for both juveniles, ages 15 and 16, for Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime for a Felony, Larceny from a Building, and Vandalizing Property. The 15-year-old juvenile was taken into custody on January 13, 2026. The arrest warrant for the 16-year-old juvenile remains active.
FRPD issued the following:
“This investigation highlights the effective coordination between the Patrol Bureau, Major Case Division, Crime Scene Unit, and School Resource Officers in responding to the incident, conducting a thorough investigation, collecting evidence, identifying suspects, and securing arrests. A special thank you to the 16 year old suspect for providing detectives with a repeat performance of a holiday break at Jay’s. While the rerun was helpful, we are optimistic the Valentine’s Day episode will be canceled.”
