Suspect and victim identified by authorities after Taunton man found covered in blood
An incident this week in Massachusetts left one man arrested and another man covered in his own blood.
According to police, on Monday, at approximately 11:23 p.m., the Braintree Police Department responded to a call for a stabbing at 205 Wood Road, where Wollaston Alloys is located. The caller stated that his co-worker was stabbed.
Upon arrival, the responding officers saw a large group of people standing in the parking lot. When the officers exited their vehicles, the victim, later identified as Jorge Monteiro of Taunton ran toward the officers. The victim’s head, face, and hands were covered in blood and had a blood stained sweatshirt wrapped around his head.
When the officers asked the crowd where the suspect was, they pointed to a male party, later identified as Jose Martins of Brockton, who was leaning up against a vehicle.
The officers ordered the suspect to the ground, and eventually he complied. Martins was placed under arrest. Shortly after Martins was placed under arrest, another member of the crowd came forward holding the knife allegedly used by Martins and it was seized as evidence.
Martins was transported back to Braintree PD to go through the booking process where he was charged with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Knife. Assault and Battery with Serious Bodily Injury.
The responding officers rendered medical aid on scene, and the victim was transported to an area hospital for further treatment by Brewster Ambulance.
