Students from Diman Regional in Fall River clean up with 22 top tens, 4 national champions at National SkillsUSA Competition in Georgia

School may be out for the summer, but that didn’t stop Fall River area students from taking home some big-time hardware.

According to Diman Regional, this past week, 24 Diman students traveled to Atlanta for the National SkillsUSA Competition.

Students secured 22 top ten finishes and 4 national medals.

Medal Winners

Sophia Lourenco – Gold, Nurse Assistant

Gabriel Baxter – Silver, Sheet Metal

Elijah Mendez – Silver, Welding

Justine Moniz – Bronze, Dental Assisting

Top Ten Finishers

4th Place, Automated Manufacturing – Brayden Cunha, William Gagnon, Dominic Gemelli

4th Place, Career Pathways (Industry & Engineering) – Ruby Benoit, Ava King, Abigail Aguiar

6th Place, Occupational Health & Safety (Single) – Madeleine Cabral, Cheyenne Silva, Victoria Rocha

7th Place, CNC 5-Axis Programmer – William Goff

8th Place, Opening & Closing Ceremonies – Kyra Amaral, Isabelle Chekares, Sophie Chekares, Gloria Moniz, Angelina Ouy, Alexah Pedder, Isabella St. Pierre

10th Place, Electronics – Ace Wittkamper

Dedicated advisors who guided the students are Steve Desmarias, Kathryn Dufour, Matthew Almeida, Kurt Chouinard, Priscilla Wicks, Jamie Manuels, Cindy Berube, Jessica Tavares, Paul Oliveira, and David Salsinha.

SkillsUSA is an organization and competition where students hone their personal skills, workplace skills and technical skills against current industry standards in more than 130 occupational areas, from 3-D animation to welding and nearly everything in between.
