A Stoughton man was found guilty today of killing a couple by driving head on into their motorcycle in Stoughton in 2021, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey announced.

Raffaele Frontino, 65, was convicted of two counts of motor vehicle homicide while driving negligently and under the influence of alcohol after a four-day jury trial in Norfolk Superior Court.

Frontino was driving a car when he crossed into the oncoming lane of travel on June 28, 2021 and collided with a motorcycle driven by Alfredo Pedro, 50, in the vicinity of 1317 Washington Street in Stoughton, District Attorney Morrissey said.

Aldina Pedro, 51, was a passenger on her husband’s motorcycle. The Stoughton couple was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“During the trial, witnesses testified they saw the defendant’s car traveling erratically before the crash. Their testimony was corroborated by security camera footage submitted as evidence at trial,” District Attorney Morrissey said.

The defendant’s blood-alcohol level was 0.125% two hours after the crash. The legal limit for intoxication in Massachusetts is 0.08%.

“We thank the jury for their service. We hope the verdict brings some closure to the family and friends of the victims,” District Attorney Morrissey said.

According to an obituary, Al was a member of both the Holy Ghost Society of the Azores and Holy Ghost Society of Club Luis de Camoes in Stoughton. He enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley Davidson and eating seafood but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Aldina was a member of both the Sociedade Filarmónica De São João of Stoughton and the Holy Ghost Society of the Azores. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing and watching Lifetime. She was always the life of the party, and her greatest joy was taking care of her children and grandchildren.

Frontino is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Mark Hallal at 2:00 p.m. on June 10 in Norfolk Superior Court.

The crash was investigated by Stoughton Police, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Christopher Meade and Sean Riley. Victim-Witness Advocate Jennifer Tihalas assisted the family of the victims through the court process.
