State Representative Carole Fiola of Fall River honored with Southcoast Health’s Hero for Health Award

FALL RIVER, Mass. – This morning, David McCready, President & CEO of Southcoast Health presented State Representative Carole Fiola of Fall River with the Southcoast Health Hero for Health Award at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
This award is presented each year to an outstanding leader, or group of leaders, who exemplify the mission of Southcoast Health by fighting for and promoting health and wellbeing in our region, state, and country. Representative Fiola was selected to receive the 2024-25 Southcoast Hero for Health Award for her deep commitment to the South Coast region and in recognition of her tireless work improving the quality of life for all residents of the Commonwealth.

Representative Fiola has proudly served the 6th Bristol District since her election to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in September 2013. She currently serves as the Chair of the Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies. In addition, she serves on the House Committee on Rules and the Joint Committee on Rules.

I am dedicated to continued collaboration with them to ensure that this vital healthcare delivery system always receives the resources and support it requires to keep our community healthy.”
Before joining the Legislature, Representative Fiola built a successful career in real estate and served from 2001 to 2011 as a member of the Governor’s Council from District 1. In that role, she was responsible for advising the Governor and providing consent on appointments to judicial positions, clerk magistrate roles, the Appellate Tax Board, and other key offices.
In addition to her work at the state level, she currently serves as a member on the Bristol Aging and Wellness Advisory Board and the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Caucus of Women Legislators. She is also the President and Founder of the Durfee Hilltopper Athletic Foundation, and throughout her career has contributed her leadership and service to numerous local organizations across the region.
Southcoast Health has been recognized consecutively for seven years in a row as a Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospital from 2019-2025 and was named a Maternity Care Access Hospital from 2024-2025 by U.S. News & World Report. The organization was additionally recognized as the best place to work for the seventh consecutive year by Southcoast Media Group’s Community’s Choice awards.
