State Police release identities of two teens killed in Route 95 crash that also injured 3 others
The Rhode Island State Police, along with West Warwick Fire and Rescue, Warwick Fire and Rescue, Hopkins Hill Fire and Rescue, and East Greenwich Fire and Rescue, responded late Saturday night to a serious motor vehicle crash on Route 95.
According to a RISP release, at just after 11:30 p.m., first responders received reports of a vehicle that had veered off the roadway and into the tree line. Upon arrival, Troopers discovered a silver Toyota that had lost control, exited the highway, and struck a tree. All six occupants were trapped inside the vehicle and required extrication by fire and rescue personnel.
Five of the occupants were transported to Rhode Island Hospital with injuries. One of the passengers, Ayanna Voyak, age 19, of Hartford, Connecticut, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second passenger, Aisha Jules, age 19, of New London, Connecticut, succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
The Rhode Island State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
