State Police release details after pedestrian hit by two vehicles while on the highway
A pedestrian was struck and killed by multiple vehicles on a local highway.
According to Rhode Island State Police, on Monday at approximately 9:15 p.m., members of the Rhode Island State Police and the Providence Fire Department responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on Route 95 North in the area of Point Street in Providence.
Upon arrival, Troopers located the pedestrian in the high-speed lane. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene by members of the Providence Fire Department.
The operators of the two vehicles involved remained at the scene and are cooperating with investigators. Preliminary information indicates the pedestrian was attempting to cross the highway in an easterly direction at the time of the incident.
The Rhode Island State Police are working to identify the victim and notify next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing.
