State Police looking for public’s help after Brockton man identified as victim in fatal highway crash

A Massachusetts man has been identified as the victim of a recent fatal highway crash.

According to State Police, last Tuesday, just after 10:45 a.m., State Police Troop “E” Montville dispatched Troopers to the area south of exit 18 on I-395 northbound in Norwich, CT for the report of a motor vehicle collision with serious injuries.

A Green in color 2004 Nissan Xterra collided with the Lawler Ln. overpass in the right shoulder after going off the roadway and coming to a final uncontrolled rest in the middle of 395 Northbound.

The operator who was identified as 78-year-old Jacques Bertheau of Brockton, was transported to William W. Backus Hospital with serious injuries.

Bertheau was later pronounced deceased.

This is an active investigation and if anyone who witnessed the collision, has dash camera footage, or other information is asked to contact the Connecticut State Police Troop “E” Montville barracks.
