State Police investigating after two troopers injured after multi-vehicle crash
Authorities are investigating after two State Police cruisers collided causing injuries to two troopers.
According to State Police, on Wednesday, just before 10:15 p.m., Troopers from the Lincoln Woods Barracks responded to 911 calls for a disabled motor vehicle, stranded in the high-speed lane of Route 95 South, in the City of Providence.
A responding Trooper was unable to move the vehicle and as a result, was forced to block the high speed lane with his cruiser.
A second cruiser entering the scene, struck the rear end of the stationary cruiser before striking the jersey barrier located in the center median and coming to rest.
This collision forced the front of the stationary cruiser to strike the rear of the disabled vehicle, causing minor damage.
Both Troopers involved were transported to Rhode Island Hospital with complaints of pain and later released.
The crash remains under investigation.
