State Police identify 2 Massachusetts men killed, and another arrested, after late night crash
Two Massachusetts men are dead, and another is charged, after a fatal crash that took place just before midnight.
According to State Police, a 2013 Infinity was traveling on Route 5/15 Northbound in the area of exit #85 in the town of Wethersfield, Connecticut.
For an unknown reason, the vehicle veered from the left lane and collided with the metal beam guard rail off the right shoulder. The vehicle then rolled over, down the embankment before coming to its final rest.
The driver, 22-year-old Alexis Garcia, was reported to have minor injuries and refused medical attention.
Two passengers, 25-year-old Joshua Gonzalez and 21-year-old Edwin Guzman, sustained life-threatening injuries and were transported to Hartford Hospital where they were pronounced deceased.
Garcia was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. A standardized field sobriety test was given which he subsequently failed.
Garcia was arrested and transported to Troop H in Hartford where he was processed per departmental policy. Garcia was charged with violating C.G.S. 14-227a, Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs. Garcia was unable to post the $250,000 cash/surety bond and was given a court date of 10/6/2025 at GA15 in New Britain to answer to the charges.
This case remains under investigation.
