State Police, DEA, task force arrest man on several charges after drugs, guns, money seized
A local man is facing several charges after an investigation by multiple agencies resulted in the seizure of drugs, guns, and money.
The Rhode Island State Police announced that on Thursday, members of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and Drug Enforcement Administration Providence Resident Office arrested 33-year-old John Digiovanni of Joslin Street in Providence on weapons and narcotics charges, to include possession with intent to deliver cocaine and crack cocaine. He was also charged with illegal possession of a firearm, possession of a ghost gun and a large capacity feeding device.
After a month-long investigation, members of HIDTA and DEAPRO executed court authorized search warrants on Joslin Street and Russo Street in Providence, and O’Donnell Avenue in North Providence. As a result of this investigation, the following items were seized:
Approximately 53 grams of crack cocaine
Approximately 47 grams of cocaine
A loaded Black Polymer 80 .45 caliber Ghost Gun
A loaded Silver Smith and Wesson .32 caliber revolver
Two – 30 round extended magazines
One – 13 round extended magazine
Assorted caliber ammunition
Approximately $16,800 in US Currency
Two Money Counters
Digiovanni was transported to the State Police Lincoln Barracks where he was processed and later arraigned at 6th District Court where he was held without bail pending future court dates.
The Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force is comprised of members from the Rhode Island State Police, Providence Police Department, North Providence Police Department, Lincoln Police Department, Middletown Police Department, Bristol Police Department, Narragansett Police, DEA Providence District Office, and Department and Rhode Island National Guard Counterdrug Program.
