State Police arrest two driving the wrong way on the highway within hours of each other

State Troopers arrested multiple drivers traveling northbound on Route 95 South earlier this morning.

According to State Police, at approximately 1:20 a.m., the Hope Valley Barracks received 911 calls reporting a vehicle traveling northbound on Route 95 South in the vicinity of Exit 21 in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Moments later, Troopers from the Wickford Barracks stopped the vehicle on Route 95 South just prior to the Route 4 split.

The operator, identified as Katelynn Blood, age 21 of Coventry, Rhode Island, subsequently failed all Field Sobriety Tests administered on scene, was placed into custody without incident, and transported to the Wickford Barracks. Blood was later arraigned by a Justice of the Peace on the following charges:

1. Driving Under the Influence – BAC Unknown (First Offense)
2. Reckless Driving (First Offense)

Blood was released into the custody of a responsible adult with future Third District Court dates.

At approximately 4:50 a.m., the Hope Valley Barracks received 911 calls reporting a vehicle traveling northbound on Route 95 South in the vicinity of Exit 4 in Hopkinton, Rhode Island. Moments later, Troopers from the Hope Valley Barracks stopped the vehicle on Route 95 South in the vicinity of Baker Pines Road in Richmond.

The operator, identified as Shakimm Curry, age 35, of New London, Connecticut, subsequently failed all Field Sobriety Tests administered on scene, was placed into custody without incident, and transported to the Hope Valley Barracks. Curry was held pending an arraignment this morning by a Justice of the Peace on the following charges:

1. Driving Under the Influence – BAC Unknown (First Offense)
2. Reckless Driving (First Offense)
3. Weapons Other than Firearms Prohibited.

Statewide, Rhode Island Troopers arrested six other subjects for Driving Under the Influence during the night.
