State Police arrest man after wrong-way head-on crash with injuries on Route 146
A local man is facing charges after a serious crash Friday night.
According to Rhode Island State Police, at 10:50 p.m., members of the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks responded to E911 calls for a wrong-way driver traveling south in the northbound lanes of Route 146 in the Town of Lincoln. The E911 callers then advised that the vehicle was involved in a head-on crash just south of Route 116.
The investigation revealed that the operator of the wrong-way vehicle, identified as 38-year-old Carlos Gonzalez Carrillo of Cranston, Rhode Island, collided head-on with another vehicle being operated by a 28-year-old Woonsocket woman. She was later transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Carrillo was arrested at the scene for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and/or Drugs and taken to the Lincoln Woods Barracks. Carrillo consented to a breathalyzer test and his BAC results were .187 and .183. Carrillo was held overnight at the Lincoln Woods Barracks pending an arraignment before a Justice of the Peace Saturday morning.
