State of the City address in Fall River postponed; yard waste collection pickup to begin in April
Government Center has issued two statements concerning yard waste and a postponement of the State of the City address.
Massachusetts has declared a State of Emergency and has encouraged the cancellation of all discretionary gathering, particularly gatherings involving large numbers of people. As a result and in an abundance of caution, Mayor Paul Coogan has decided to postpone the State of the City address that was scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2020 at 6:00pm.
According to Mayor Coogan’s office, the State of the City address will be rescheduled once the State of Emergency is lifted. Although strict compliance of Section 3-6 of the City Charter cannot occur, the Administration believes that an address that is open to the public takes priority over the time constraints detailed in the City Charter.
In unrelated news, the City of Fall River will begin collecting yard waste on April 6, 2020. Yard waste will be picked up on each neighborhood’s trash day.
