UPDATE: Stanley Street Fire Station in Fall River re-opens
UPDATE: According to Special Assistant to Mayor Correia, Monica Sousa, mold remediation has been completed at the Stanley Street Fire Station.
The Station passed air quality tests in all areas of the building.
Engine 12 and Platform 1 will resume their response from the Stanley Street Station this evening.
Our previous story:
A Fall River fire station has been closed due to unhealthy conditions.
Due to elevated mold levels that have been detected in some parts of the Stanley Street Station, Platform 1 is going to be responding from Commerce Drive Fire Station and Engine 12 will be responding from the Bedford Street Fire Station.
In order to properly clean the station and protect fire fighters that work in that station, the decision was quickly make by the Correia Administration, in consultation with Chief John Lynch, to adjust which stations these apparatus will respond from.
It is anticipated that Engine 12 and Platform 1 will resume their response from Stanley Street tomorrow, July 23rd.
According to Mayor Correia, in case of emergency, please DO NOT report to the Stanley Street Station as there will not be anyone there to address your emergency.
