An incident at a park in Fall River led to an arrest and multiple injuries.

According to police, on Tuesday, at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers assigned to the Fall River Police Department Patrol Bureau responded to Kennedy Park after receiving a report of a man armed with a knife attempting to stab several juveniles near the pavilion.

Officers arrived and moved toward the pavilion, located the suspect, and safely took him into custody. A knife was subsequently recovered near the pavilion.

The suspect was identified as Chanthu Yee, 38, of Fall River.

During the investigation, officers learned that a group of juveniles had been gathered at the pavilion when Yee allegedly became confrontational, produced a pocketknife, and began threatening and chasing members of the group. It was also determined that Yee was heavily intoxicated.

Two juveniles sustained minor lacerations during the incident while attempting to disarm Yee and prevent anyone from being seriously injured. Both were transported to a local hospital for evaluation with non-life-threatening injuries.

Yee sustained injuries during the confrontation and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Following his release, he was transported to the Fall River Police Department and booked in connection with the incident.

Court records show that at arraignment, Yee pled not guilty and was released on personal recognizance with a pretrial hearing scheduled for September 21st.

FRPD commended the juveniles who quickly sought help and the Patrol Bureau officers whose rapid response brought a dangerous and chaotic situation under control.
