St. John’s in Fall River to see new kitchen due to opening of new restaurant

A new restaurant is coming to Fall River which will cause some changes at a popular city eatery.

At the end of July 2020, Coastal Commercial Real Estate had announced the sale of 437 Miller Street in Fall River and stated that the property would become a new restaurant in the city.

The location, formerly occupied by Maplewood Chiropractic, has been converted into a restaurant that will feature authentic Portuguese Cuisine.

The building, which will be known as Twins Restaurant, is across from Maplewood Park.

The property was acquired on July 21st, 2020 by Edwardo Ferreira, Maria Ferreira, and Rosa Barbosa, from Westport, MA, according to CCRE. Maria Ferreira and Rosa Barbosa are currently in charge of the popular St. John’s Restaurant located at 1365 Rodman Street. The family-run restaurant is popular for its Portuguese /American cuisine. The sisters are twins hence Twins Restaurant.

Representatives appeared before the Fall River Licensing Board in October of 2020 and was granted a New Alcoholic Common Victualler License pending inspection of the property.

The eatery is expected to hold 125 patrons and be open Sunday to Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

St. John’s Athletic Club told Fall River Reporter that while the current kitchen is relocating to Twins Restaurant and leaving on December 30th, the club and the banquet hall are not closing and a new kitchen is coming after the new year with details yet to be revealed.

Twins restaurant is expected to open in January of 2022.
