St. Anne Shrine holding 9-day celebration in honor of Good Saint Anne

St. Anne Shrine has announced a celebration that will take place over a 9-day stretch.

According to Bryan Boyle of The St. Anne Shrine Preservation Society, in 1872, 7 years after the end of the Civil War, Adrien De Montaubricq came to Fall River to minister to the quickly growing French-Canadian immigrants who came here to work in the mills along the banks of the river. He established, that year, a novena (9 day) celebration which highpoint was the celebration of the Feast of St. Anne (patroness of Quebec) and procession of her relic through the streets of the city.

154 years later…through world wars, depressions, recessions, change in the economic fortunes of Fall River, ethnic changes, challenges…St. Anne Shrine has, without fail, continued this celebration every July. 2026 is no different.

What began on Saturday, July 18th with a Healing Mass celebrated by Shrine Chaplain Fr. Edward Murphy, the novena to Good St. Anne will be offered every evening to July 25th, with the Festival Mass celebrated by newly-ordained Fr. Kaique Santos, on Sunday, July 26th.

Each Mass will be preceded by the traditional novena prayers to St. Anne with confession available, followed by Eucharistic Exposition and Adoration.

The Feast Mass, on July 26th will also include the traditional procession of the 1st Class Relic of St. Anne through the streets at the conclusion of the Mass, followed by veneration of her relic.
