Springfield woman charged after nearly $23,000 check stolen in Bristol County, then altered, deposited
A Massachusetts woman is accused of depositing a sizable stolen check recently.
According to Sgt. James M. Casey, on 10/09/2024, Detective Arthur Beaudoin responded to a report of a stolen check from the Town of Rehoboth Treasurer.
The check that was reported stolen was initially made payable to a vender that performed a job for the Town of Rehoboth in the amount of $22,818.33. It was altered and made payable to a female named Jordyn Richardson.
Through the course of his investigation, Detective Beaudoin was able to determine 23-year-old Jordyn Richardson of Springfield, Massachusetts deposited the altered check into her Bank of America account via an ATM.
It was also determined that an unidentified man was involved with the larceny and altering of the check.
Richardson has been charged with larceny over $1,200.00, forgery of a check, uttering a false check and conspiracy.
Richardson is due to appear in Taunton District Court for arraignment on 02/20/2025.
