Speeding on Route 24 leads to arrest on warrants, seizure of over 2 1/2 pounds of cocaine

A Massachusetts man has been arrested on drug charges and outstanding warrants after a traffic stop.

According to Massachusetts State Police, at 11:33 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, a Trooper assigned to the State Police Milton-Barracks was on patrol on Route 24 in Randolph. While traveling southbound he noticed a white Chevy Suburban travelling faster than the flow of traffic, passing vehicles on the left. The Trooper conducted an electronic check of the vehicle’s registration and found the registered owner had two active felony warrants for his arrest. The Trooper was able to position his cruiser behind the Suburban and turn on his cruiser’s blue lights to conduct a stop.

When the Trooper approached the Suburban, he made contact with the driver. The Trooper confirmed the driver was the registered owner of the vehicle, 30-year-old Brendan Niedzwiecki, of South Boston. Niedzwiecki was removed from the vehicle and placed into handcuffs. Niedzwiecki was secured in the back of the Trooper’s cruiser while the warrants were confirmed to be active.

Assisted by a second Trooper from the Milton Barracks, the Trooper called for a tow for the vehicle. Together, the Troopers conducted an inventory of the vehicle to annotate the items contained in the vehicle prior to the tow. In a backpack behind the driver’s seat, Troopers located two large plastic bags containing a combined 1,133 grams, or more than 2.5 pounds of cocaine. Niedzwiecki was read his Miranda rights and chose not to speak with Troopers regarding what they had found behind his seat.

Niedzwiecki was transported to the Milton Barracks to be booked, fingerprinted, and photographed.

Niedzwiecki was held on warrants for Assault And Battery With A Dangerous Weapon Causing Serious Bodily Injury (2 Counts), and Mayhem.

Niedzwiecki was arraigned at Quincy District Court on the charge of Trafficking In Cocaine.
