A man in Massachusetts reportedly shot himself, prompting crews to rush to his aid.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning, the duty shift responded to a reported gunshot injury in Halifax, according to the Fire Department.

Ambulance 2 (A2) and Engine 2 (E2) were dispatched.

Upon arrival, crews located an adult male with an accidental gunshot wound. The patient was treated on scene and transported by A2 to a local trauma center in critical but stable condition.

Due to staffing requirements during transport, Engine 2 was temporarily sidelined on the roadway while A2 transported with four members on board. A recall was initiated for off-duty personnel to ensure station coverage and to retrieve Engine 2.

The victim was not identified.
