Somerset Selectman Jamison Souza Launches Bid for State Rep in 5th Bristol District
In front of a crowd of supporters at the iconic Venus de Milo banquet hall last night, Somerset Selectman Jamison Souza officially launched his campaign for State Representative in the Fifth Bristol District.
Souza is challenging incumbent Republican Justin Thurber for the seat representing Somerset, Dighton, parts of Swansea, and parts of Taunton. Surrounded by supporters, family, and local officials, Souza emphasized his commitment to bridging local needs with state-level action, drawing on his extensive experience in public service to position himself as a unifying force in the region.
A lifelong resident of Somerset, Souza served on the Somerset Planning Board for eight years and four years on the Somerset School Committee. Professionally, Souza has built a successful career in real estate as the Team Leader of The Souza Group and a Partner at Keller Williams South Watuppa. On a personal level, Souza is a family man, married to Jennifer with two daughters.
Running as a Democrat, Souza’s stated campaign focuses on affordability—housing, taxes, health care, and education—while advocating for small business growth, fair corporate taxation, and reformed state funding formulas to better support municipalities. He views social services as a “hand up, not a hand out,” and stresses the importance of a unified South Coast delegation.
